still working on refinishing iron bed frame?
I am stripping antique iron bedframe with medium to fine steel wool. What do I use to buff or polish to make sure all of the small grit is off? How smooth does it need to be before I paint? I will be using a "rustoleum" oil based paint. Do I need to fine sand between coats? please feel free to e-mail me if you have other helpful hints sajaru316@yahoo.com
You should just strip it sufficiently to be sure that all the finest details are visible (not filled in with old paint), the smoothness is mostly important on any of the larger flat areas. You should not have to sand between coats unless a drip has dried, but be sure to apply VERY light (thin) coats with no drips (wipe off any drips) and give it at least 2 or 3 very thin coats.
