I got a belly button ring two months ago and now there is a flexible white bump by it is this a forming scar?
I followed all healing instructions. The bump is white but see- through like forming skin. There is no pus or excess redness. I use Dial and Neosporin as I have from day one.
Some people do get a bump, and it wouldn't hurt to go let your piercer check it out just to be safe. It doesn't sound too bad. Don't use dial and neosporin. Neosporin, especially, is an antibiotic, and you really shouldn't use it unless you get an infection and really need it. Soap can also dry out your piercing and cause more scarring. You need to get H2Ocean piercing spray, or make a saltwater solution to soak your piercing with. It removes lymph and blood without damaging it. Try not to move the piercing much, because it's the equivalent of picking a scab everytime you move it, which causes more scarring. Because it's a navel ring, it will take up to a year to fully heal, so be careful and watch for redness and discharge. I fully recommend checking in with the piercer just in case though, because he'll be able to see exactly what you mean.
